Version:           2.0.0 (using 4.0.2 (KDE 4.0.2), Debian packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-lg

Umbrello has a strange effect that all labels (including menu bar items, toolbar button labels, and labels on objects) are not wide enough, and the text is therefore cropped at both ends, hiding part of the first and last letter. (Screenshot to follow.)

I haven't seen anything similar in other apps.

I can confirm this. Already posted this in launchpad. The bug can be reproduced with specific font settings.

This bug went away for me after some upgrades. I'm now using Debian's umbrello 4:4.0.72-1, but I think it was already fixed in 4:4.0.68+svn794641-1 (i.e. trunk r794641).

The bug has re-appeared with Debian's umbrello 4:4.0.74-1. It may have to do with font settings, I changed them recently. But umbrello is the only application that exhibits the bug.

On my system, text labels that use Bitstream Vera get the correct width, but those using Tahoma are too narrow.

I confirm this bug with this settings:

Name       : kdesdk
Arch       : i386
Version    : 4.0.80
Release    : 1.fc10

Fedora 9 with KDE 4.1beta from rawhide (development)

Sorry for the quick reply, but if I change the font, I have a good behaviour, even if I change to the old font.

I'm using Nimbus fonts.
