Description Tjalling 2008-03-16 15:14:29 UTC
Version: 1.4.8 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler: gcc 4.2.3, make 3.81 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux

reproduction:
- select a track (.mp3) with # in its filename (search with collection browser and check filename,
- add to playlist,
- edit track information
- and/or play track

example:
song: /home/tjalling/mp3/3_downloaded/00new/new20080225/Backini - Threads/02 thread #1.mp3

my result:
1. song appears in collection
2. song is 'greyed out' (unavailable) in playlist, screenshot:
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/640/amarokbug2pn1.png
3. track information is editable in collection browser
4. track information is NOT editable in playlist, message:
"This file does not exist: /home/tjalling/mp3/3_downloaded/00new/new20080225/Backini - Threads/02 thread " screenshot:
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/7691/amarokbug3dr5.png
5. track can not be played in playlist, message:
"Local file does not exist."

** Additional problem ** inconsistent behaviour: it doesn't happen always... screenshot:

workaround:
- archive directory with album containing problematic track (to a .zip file, for example)
- remove directory
- update collection
- remove entries from playlist
- extract archive
- update collection
- add tracks to playlist
problem solved, screenshot:

after removal and re-adding, songs are playable.

Amarok 1.4 no longer unmaintained.
Comment 2 Alexander Potashev 2009-05-15 09:41:03 UTC
Confirmed in r967907:

1. 'filename.mp3' plays well
2. copy 'filename.mp3' into 'file#name.mp3'
3. add both files into playlist
4. can't play 'file#name.mp3' (Amarok can't even try reading id3 tags, it says 'Unknown' (album / artist))
5. Amarok crashes when 'filename.mp3' ends up and 'file#name.mp3' is going to start playing.

Alexander, it's useless to add things to this bug, Amarok 1.3.x is not maintained anymore, Maybe Seb has not been clear enough on that...
