Hi Luigi, could you please install the debug-packages, so kdebase-dbg rather then kdebase, to be able to provide us a more detailed backtrace? Thanks in advance :) Hello Sebastian, you mean kdebase-dbg (that is kde 3.5.9) or kdebase-kde4-dbg?? And after that I've installed one of those packages can I remove kdebase (or kdebase-kde4)? Thank you for your work! In both cases the later, so KDE4, for sure since you may have a hard time to try to reproduce the Plasma-crash in 3.5.9 ;) Though if you install kdebase-kde4-dbg it should auto-replace kdebase-kde4 anyway afaik. Sure it will!! ;-) Well, I'm installing kdebase-dbg-kde4 (but kdebase-kde4 it will not be automatically removed). While I was not at the pc plasma crashed another time, I suppose when amsn has notified a new mail with a little-letter-icon . I'll post here this new backtrace. As soon as I'll get the new debug kdebase I'll try to let plasma crash again. And now that I have the possibility to talk directly with a plasma developer, just a question (wish): MOVING PLASMOIDS ON THE PANEL AND SO CHANGE POSITION WITHIN IT :) the backtrace: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Please do post a new when the debug packages are installed. :) Unfortunatly debug package doesn't install properly: I got problems with libqt4-debug. This package doesn't install and so do the others. I'm sorry! Another crash... This is the backtrace: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Plasma crashed while launching amsn. Thank you! how did you get the plasma crash when using amsn Luigi? i´m using kde 4.0.2,platform x86,fedora 9 rawhide. I´ve downloaded amsn 0.97 and i can start it without any crash. I don have a msn account to make amsn connect tho. Did you install kde4 over kde 3.5.x by any chance? Seems to be, that Kubuntu users have problems with KDE 4.0.2. Could you try it again with KDE 4.0.3? It works fine for me, but I have OpenSuse 10.3 installed. For testing move ./kde4 to ./kde4_old and ./kde also. Or try to move/delete ~/.kde/share/config/plasmarc. With 4.1 just around the corner, it's time to close off 4.0 bugs. If you get similar crashes with 4.1 please open a new bug with a full backtrace. |
