Resize of KDE3 application windows is very slow, and not continuous. I have configured KDE4 to not update the contents of windows while resizing.

I can confirm this with kwin from kde 4.1.
Actually it's non-kde4 window resizing that is slow.

And me too. With both kde3 and kde4. But only with GTK Apps (e.g dia, gimp, inkscape). 
How to reproduce:
After resizing the window of a gtk-based app to the smallest allowed size, further resizing is not smooth, but rather happens stepwise.
