Description bcr 2008-03-03 20:48:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

It would be nice if users could specify date ranges for specific tags so that they can be automatically excluded when tagging images created outside the qualifying dates. I.e. a set of tags could be marked up as per below:

Niagara Falls [2007-12-12 to 2007-12-15], [2001-01-04 to 2002-01-01]
San Francisco [2007-05-06 to present]

Images taken in for a few days in December 2007 or January 2001 are the only ones that could be tagged with Niagara Falls.
Only images after May 2007 can be tagged as San Francisco.

Implementing this would greatly filter out the number of extraneous tags and make auto-complete more effective.

Addendum: For images that have already been tagged, it should be fairly straightforward to generate default tag date ranges by using the min/max
dates of the tagged images.

Marcel,

Same here: there is no entry in KDE4 database schema to support this whish...

I think this is too specific. Maybe with scripting backend, but for core
digiKam?

Yes, while Bug 140202 was addressing directly dates this one speaks about tags but for the same functionality in the end.
