there are drop-down variations of many buttons (like Send/Insert File/etc...), and i think an "Attach File Recent" would be a nice addition to the composer toolbar.  it'd act accordingly:
 - default icon matches "Attach File" default icon
 - clicking the button does the same thing as clicking "Attach File" button
 - holding down the button brings up a drop down list of recently attached files
