Description Henning Schnoor 2008-02-29 22:20:09 UTC
Version: 1.9.6 (using KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

When KMail is used with an IMAP account having an INBOX with many messages (880 in this case), when fetching new messages, KMail hangs. The progress bar remains at 0%.

Expected Behaviour:

KMail should download the mail headers and display new messages.

How to Reproduce:

create an IMAP account. Copy lots of messages (several hundred) into the INBOX. Configure KMail to use that account. After initial fetching the mail (which works fine), click on "Get New Messages" (or wait until the auto-timer does it), and the program will hang.

Not that this is on IMAP, not on POP (there is an old bug relating to the issue on a POP server, I am not sure if this is related, but in this setting, I used KMail only on IMAP, without any POP accounts configured).

Just a note: The problem does not seem to be related to network problems. The server is up and running, and connection speed using Mozilla is very good.

Yes. Please report if you still have a problem in KDE 4.3 or above
