After some testing it seems that KDE sound handling is responsive for this bug (i think KDE is waiting for response from sound server). I dont use and dont have installed arts. After redefining soud player to play, error dont occur more. does the lock happen once, and not again until you restart the application? or does it happen every time you open a file dialog? I cannot try it, because i switched to ubuntu now. What i remember it was first time and not more until application restart. Ok, then I guess you're seeing the effect of the phonon backend getting loaded on demand. It is programmed to load the backend when a preview for an audio or video file should be done. I see that effect only on mouse-over of a media file. And then it's like 1 second (and your hardware looks more capable than mine). Are you really seeing a 10-20 seconds lockup? Yes 10 - 20 seconds. Have you experienced this bug again with a recent KDE version? (4.1.3 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2svn) ? Thanks :) No. I used more distros from time when i reported that problem and i dont seen that bug newer more (KDE 4.1.x, 4.2 beta 1). |
