Description Piotr Mitas 2008-02-05 16:11:42 UTC
Version: 3.5.8 (using 3.5.8, Gentoo)
Compiler: Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-gentoo

Many programs, especially those installed manually by unpacking them to some folder, expect the working directory to be the same as their binary, so they can find the data files, and such.

An option for konqueror to set the the working directory to that, from which you run the program would be very convenient, for things, like... um.. launching those apps? ;)

Ofc you can start them via a terminal, but that's not very convenient and not gonna convince anyone, that Linux is oh-so-user-friendly ;)

Any love on this one? I've seen several newbies double-clicking on a script file. IMHO, that should work just fine.

I am going to close this as INVALID if there are no further comments.

The problem is that the current directory is the directory that is used to access data files. So, it is set to the Documents Directory as default. If an application needs a different directory, then this needs to be set either in the 'desktop' file or in the script.
