This works fine for me.
Maybe you have threading for messages enabled, or the message dates are wrong. Try the other date sorting options.
Comment 3 sts 2008-02-05 16:45:37 UTC
Now, I can reproduce it. Click on sort by subject (down), click on sort by name (down), 2 clicks on sort by date, click on sort by name and 2 clicks on sort by date (the newest mail at first) now it's sorted by name, date :)

Comment 4 sts 2008-02-05 16:46:18 UTC
btw I don't have threading messages
Comment 5 Thomas McGuire 2008-02-05 17:36:10 UTC
I can still not reproduce this problem.
Comment 6 Florian Reinhard 2008-06-05 14:19:05 UTC

wrong order and with also a wrong date 2106... I click on this message it changes the date to the correct one.

This folder is an kde3-mail folder. Refresh index doesn't help.

vperic confirmed this on KMail from 4.1.1 with the provided step-by-step instructions.
Comment 10 Xavier Brochard 2008-11-03 12:14:38 UTC
Similar problem here Debian Sid AMD64 with Kmail 1.10.1 under KDE 4.1.2. I followed the provided step-by-step instructions, but the resulted sort is not name, date but something different (and very strange).

What is the situation with the new kmail interface existing since kde 4.2?
Comment 12 sts 2010-07-30 22:09:42 UTC
works for me since some months.
