Description Vladimir Kuznetsov 2008-02-05 01:35:21 UTC
Version: 0.6 (using 4.00.00 (KDE 4.0.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-14-generic

When reading a book (especially scientific one) I'm creating lots of bookmarks and browsing them as unordered flat list becomes quite inconvenient. It would be very cool if okular would allow to group bookmarks (as in konqueror).

It would also make some new use scenarios possible, for example I could make a folder with a sequence of bookmarks pointing at logical steps of derivation of some formula or theorem scattered across the book. And several folders for several theorems - quite useful and in some cases can replace traditional hand-written outline. With export/import functionality I could even pass that folders plus some annotations to my friends.

I agree, this would be a nice feature.
Also, it would be very useful if okular could sort bookmarks by page, because when reading a document, one often creates bookmarks randomly, so, when they are many, navigating through them isn't simple. If bookmarks were sorted in the same order of the pages, using them would be easier.

I agree, grouping would be very helpful. Not only in single documents, but also grouping of several documents (books related to a common subject, for example), would be nice.

The mentioned sorting of bookmarks by page order in a given document seems to be the natural thing to do.
