No KDE 4 apps detect my sata cdrom.  When I insert a disc the notifier doesn't see nor it does dolphin / konqueror.

With the svn k3b I am able to manually add the device but that does not help the other KDE apps.

I do not have this problem with gnome apps nor did I with KDE 4.0 in the Debian repos.

I have created a test user to make sure it isn't profile related.  I also tried running as root to make sure it was not a permissions problem.

To add,
The cdrom shows (and is mountable) in kdiskfree and shows up in the kde info center.

I'm a fool, I had removed hal.  I am surprised that I did not get any warnings when compiling.

Everything works as it should.
