Probably not a bug - something still being developed or my stupidity -;)

Experimenting, I removed the task manager from the panel. There seems no way to get one back. I can add task managers to the desktop - just not to the panel.

you need to drag it directly from the 'add widgets' dialog to the panel. code for dragging from desktop to panel hasn't quite been committed yet :)
