Bug 157025

Summary: kxkb does not provide chinese and burmese input methods

Description Ksenia 2008-01-31 14:10:48 UTC
Version: included in KDE 3.5.7 (using KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs
OS: Linux

I have 4 keyboard layouts installed on my Mandriva 2008.0 (Russian ru_RU.UTF-8 locale):

US English
Russian
Simplified Chinese
Burmese

All of them are accessible via the tray icon as well as by hotkeys. US English and Russian work perfectly well, but when I switch to Chinese or Burmese, no input method engines are available for these two languages! Burmese characters are printed randomly, without combining into syllables, and Chinese characters are not printed at all (QWERTY Latin characters are printed instead).

As far as I know from my previous experiences, an additional small window must have appeared, where I could input latin characters that would be interpreted as Chinese characters - but nothing of this kind is present when switching to the Chinese keyboard.

Scim and all reqiured fonts are installed (though I'm not sure about scim, may be smth important is missing on my system?). Tried to install skim, but it didn't toggle languages at all, so resorted to Kxkb again.

Could you please help me to fix this bug? Many thanks in advance!
