technically this is a problem with the engine, not the applet. do we have a policy for bugzilla components? actually, it turns out the problem is in kwallet. it's crashing or failing in some other way and leaves us waiting for the wallet forever. since this isn't a problem with plasma, I guess I should resolve the bug as invalid and go talk to the kwallet guys or something. a workaround for now (in trunk as of last week): after kde4 has finished loading, click the applet's configure button, then hit ok without changing anything. it'll attempt to read the password again. works just fine here. As this bug is still present in SVN (extragear/plasma rev. 796375), would you mind reopen this bug until it is resolved, please ? Note : I saw Chani's comment and workaround (which doesn't work here, btw), but this shouldn't be marked as resolved. Forget #4 & #5. kquitapp plasma && plasma + logout/login resolved the issue. (However, I'm not sure the end user will instinctively use kquitapp plasma to save those settings.) actually, I haven't seen this bug appear for ages; either it was fixed elsewhere or the problem was that I'd only half-installed kde4's kwallet. also, kquitapp has nothing to do with getting the password from kwallet, so either it was a coincidence or you're talking about some completely different bug. |
