Version:            (using KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          GCC 4.1.2 
OS:                Linux

After logging in to KDE 4 I add another screen with the xrandr command "xrandr --output VGA --left-of LVDS --auto"

After this I need to kill and restart plasma to make it draw the panel.

But then my wallpaper and all the desktop widgets are all black, I know the widgets are there because I can rightclick and get their respective context menu and if I press Ctrl-F12 to show the Dashboard all the widgets come to the front and look as they are supposed to. If I then press Ctrl-F12 again the disappear and become black.


My Gentoo setup is:
Intel GM965 graphics
xorg-server 1.3.0.0-r4 (xorg 7.2)
mesa 7.0.2
intel driver 2.1.1

Also to be noted is that this only occurs when I enable desktop effects. With desktop effects turned off I only have to restart plasma to get working environment.

this is not a plasma issue, it's related to composite and the x driver being used. i have the exact same chipset and the exact same problem =( but it seems to be something to do with mesa / driver version / kwin's poking at specific features.

as such, this isn't really a plasma (or even kde) bug =/ but don't worry, we're pushing at the various projects to get these things fixed and addressed as quickly as we can.
