Description steve szmidt 2008-01-21 15:11:44 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)
OS: Linux

Just installed Fedora 8 for amd64 and only kde.

If I only login (as a normal user) and then logout it works well. If I use something like the control center and then logout startkde will go defunct. It seems to not be anything specific, but I changed the user image to one of the included images and it happend. I had noticed this after doing some other change in the C.C.

Might be Fedora related as I've not seen it with other distro's. Nor did it happen when I had done the same install which included default Gnome.

Some apparent similarities with 99436, except after logout the mouse is still working and Ctrl-Alt-Backspace works.

Please report to Fedora if you cannot reproduce with other distributions. And, if it eventually turns out to be a generic KDE problem, please provide details. "If I use something like the control center" and "goes defunct" is awfully vague - provide steps to reproduce and details about how it doesn't work.
