Auto load, or drag and drop is the correct approach. In that case, I will vote. To be clear: There should be 2 ways of installing a new plasmoid: 1. Clicking on it automatically installs it and loads it to the desktop - One would expect something to appear if he opens something. 2. Drag & Drop from anywhere to the Desktop opens a menu and asks if you really want to install the new plasmoid or just move / copy to the Desktop. This loads the Plasmoid too. Options for this should be configurable in both cases. Automatically activating the Dashboard view when adding a new Plasmoid should be possible to enable (You want to immediately see what the new Plasmoid is like). There are now at least three methods to install plasmoids: - Download them through GHNS - Install from a local file - Using your distribution specific package manager. Also, as part of a GSoC project, the installation of Data Engines on which widget depend is going to be handled by PackageKit. (https://kevinkofler.wordpress.com/) Could you evaluate if the current situation resolves the reported issues? Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
