By a different view, I mean the options in Kopete>Configure>Contact List(left tab)>Contact List(upper tab)>Contact list style and if 'Use contact photos when available' is checked/unchecked.

So you select a different view style and it doesn't get applied, is  
that correct?
Is a restart of Kopete required in order to see the changes?
