is it possible to enable debug symbols in your build so we get a more informational backtrace? thanks ... (this may already be fixed in svn, btw) Thats not possible as the the KDE on my computer was pre-compiled for me so I don't have the specific build, It was labeled as KDE 4.0.0 and (I believe) it was a reputable source so i conclude it was just the official release your distribution should have -dbg or -debug packages that you can optionally install which will give you debug information in your build. I've enabled some of the debugging symbols, but must not have enable all of the ones I needed (I don't know for sure) But the back trace turned out different so I'm hoping there is some helpful information in there. If you can provide more information on what i need to enable debugging symbols on (if I'm even close to correct on understanding what they mean ) then do so (if not just explain what I did wrong) (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Please maintain the ols desktop very comprehensive for everybody (no deed to read doc to use it). Regards. Hi Daniel Moyne, for sure you can since you are free to do whatever you like. p.s. as you may note, this report is marked resolved since the problem is fixed. So, there is no need to reply here with something that is 1) offtopic to this report and 2) offtopic to any other report since bugzilla is not designed to compensate morning depressions ;) > can we simply forget about this new plasma desktop very confusing where some > guys wnat to reinvent icons 20 years after Xerox magnificent work ; the work at Xerox Park was not that magnificent. it was a tremendous stride forward, but that's like saying "the Model T ford is all we need. ever." when it comes to cars. > we simply cannot have conventional icons everywhere and > these animals in tha plasma desktop. conventional icons actually don't work very well. they are being phased out over time. > Please maintain the ols desktop very comprehensive for everybody > (no deed to read doc to use it). it's called KDE3. as for standing in the way of progress, thank GOD you weren't around when the people at Xerox Park (and elsewhere, it wasn't just them) were trying to leave the "well known, works for everybody, docs not necessary" command line driven time share model, because then you wouldn't even have those "conventional icons" to complain about. they wouldn't exist. |
