Description Stéphane Magnenat 2008-01-13 20:23:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

The KDE 4 Keyboard Layout settings does not shows all available keyboard layout variant, while KDE 3 does. Indeed, I'm using a customized dvorak layout, named dvorak-intl but it is not shown in the drop-list.

I confirm this. There is no "winkeys" variant for Russian layout, which is the one used on all modern Russian keyboards (not the default one: they differ, in particular, in the location of the comma and the dot). This is very inconvenient and should probably be fixed, as it makes the keyboard_layout module pretty much useless in some cases that it is intended for.

I confirm this too: after adding a custom layout variant in /usr/share/X11/xkb/it this variant is not shown in the drop list in the system setting control

Newer versions use the xml rule file specification file.
You'll need to add the description of your variant in base.xml or evdev.xml (based on what your rules are configured to be read from)
