Version:           1.2.4 (enterprise 0.20070907.709405) (using KDE 3.5.8, Kubuntu (gutsy) 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu3.1)

I noticed that all the drop down field in basically all the kubuntu applications is irritating in that it continuously blinks for a certain periods afterwhich it is ok. Is this a bug or is it refreshing itself. 

BTW, i also noticed that composing a message in kontact is slower than composing in evolution. There happened a time while composing that certain key were like repeating itself even when the key button were not jam.

Then this has nothing to do with Kontact. I guess it is either a style problem or something with compiz/beryl.

Sounds a lot like bug 119281.

Please don't put more than one item in a bug report.
