Description Niels van Mourik 2008-01-06 01:23:00 UTC
Version: SVN revision 757663 (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: GCC 4.1.3
OS: Linux

I know this topic has been discussed several times but I'm not really aware of the outcome of it. Backgrounds on icons make it look 'selected' and really clutters the beauty of Plasma. As discussed in another bug report it will look better with some sort of shadow or small rectangle behind the text.

sorry, this is a purposeful design decision. the desktop is not a file manager; while icon presentation may well evolve over time concerns about looking selected, clutter, etc are missing the point that icons are components just like the widgets (literally as well as interaction wise)
