Description Niels van Mourik 2008-01-06 01:08:18 UTC
Version: SVN revision 757663 (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: GCC 4.1.3
OS: Linux

It's not logical from a user's perspective that he's able to remove all the icons from the 'currently running widgets' section of the 'add widgets' dialog. Sure they in fact are widgets but I think internally the 'Show Icons' option from the 'Configure Desktop' dialog does something else then remove widgets directly.

Nope. It destroys the applets and rescan's ~/Desktop and re-creates the applets afterward. This is exactly what the "Add Widgets" Dialog does. I agree however that it might be better if the "Generic Icon" is hidden under "Add Widgets," especially since they're pretty useless when added through the dialog. Can a variable be added to the .desktop files to hide them from the "Add Widgets" dialog.

such changes would compromise our ability to move away from presenting only a traditional (and fundamentally broken in concept) desktop-is-a-filemanager concept.
