Create a new tab or split the view. Detach view menu item gets enabled. Click on it. It remains enabled even if there are no other views, and clicking on it just moves the current window to somewhere else. The menu item also remains highlighted if you split the view and close one of the views.

Confirmed. With only one view, the "detach view" should be disabled.
