Configure -> Behavior -> Away Settings :

When I enable/disable "Use auto away" the related widgets like "Become away after" won't be enabled/disabled. This widgets are always disabled.

I can confirm this. The widget remains disabled with a gray value of 10 minutes.
Moreover, auto away doesn't work: after 10 minutes of inactivity, the status does not change.

I also can confirm this behavior. I tried compiling from source, installing the testing package from kubuntu hardy, via svn trunk and stable kde 4.0.
In every way I tried it I didn't get the widgets enabled.

Also autoaway is not working neither.

This is fixed (replaced by rjarosz status manager) in SVN and will come with KDE 4.1. See http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=764034
