Left click on an entry in kickoff provides a menu with "Add to Desktop" and "Add to Panel" entries. But "Add to Panel" adds the entry also to the desktop - not to the panel.

is your kickoff widget on the desktop or the panel?

It's on the desktop. And when I take a look too the code I see why it doesn't work...
