their is a nice new Image Resizing (carving) source code around that would be very powerful and useful with digikam pictures.

This is implemented inside Digikam, but it is not a kipi plugin.

As it said by Julien, it's implemented in digiKam image editor, and Showfoto but not as a kipi tool. there is no plan to do it.
