Description Daniel Hahler 2007-12-22 22:36:22 UTC
Version: 1.0.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When copying a DVD using "Use the same device for burning" as "Burn Medium" and setting Speed to e.g. "2x", this (speed) setting is ignored when actually burning.

From the debug output (note "-speed=16" there):
----------------------
growisofs command:
-----------------------
/usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/hdd=/dev/fd/0 -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=tracksize:2293104 -dvd-compat -speed=16 -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:32m

This is also true for burning a DVD ISO image.
Although I've chosen 2,4x it uses 4,10x this time.

(I've tried creating an ISO first and then burn this as a workaround)
Comment 5 Daniel Hahler 2007-12-22 23:23:35 UTC
Sorry, in my workaround (creating an .ISO and burning this, noted above) it used "-speed=2.4" for the growisofs call.
So in this case there seems to be an issue with the display in the k3b burn dialog only (where it says "Writing speed: ...").
I don't know though if the speed option passed to growisofs is the speed that's being used in the end. It appeared to burn slower with this workaround, but I'm not sure.

In an attempt to clean up old bugs that are not valid for K3b 2.0 (=KDE SC 4.x port) anymore, this is now being marked as UNMAINTAINED.
If this bug is still valid for 2.0, please reopen it.
