Hi Eric, Thanks for reporting these issues. Are you able to confirm if this problem is still present in KDE 4.1 beta. A lot of issues with external monitors have been fixed since 3.97. Since you say you're new to this, I hope you won't mind if I offer you some advice. Your bug report actually lists three bugs - the external monitor problem, the krandr problem and the crashes when logging off. For future reference, it is more convenient for developers if those three problems are filed as 3 separate bug reports - they can then be allocated to the different developers responsible for them.
