this was already discussed, and "widgets" was chosen. plasmoids are actually a subset of widgets; plasma can display superkaramba widgets too, and at some point (kde 4.1?) support for osx dashboard widgets will be added. also, I believe that this type of suggestion is more suited to the mailing list (panel-devel), not bugzilla. :) I think this bug is still very valid as i saw discussions about why plasmoid were translated into widget in english and puzzlement from early adopters who asked "wtf are widgets". The fact that others software providers have decided to brand ther technology as widget is irrelevant, imo, as KDE has been promoting plasmoids with great success lately and people expect to find plasmoids. Also, there are google "gadgets" too now, so naming them widgets in just that menu just add to the confusion and isnt a simplification. Finally, i don't think that a developper mailing list is a better place to discuss naming and get users feedback. :) |
