Sentry Crash Report:

Description J. R. clark 2007-12-09 01:34:52 UTC
Version: kde 3.5.8 PCLinuxOS2007 2.6.18.8.tex5 i686 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
OS: Linux

Opened KDE Control Center (not the PCLinuxOS icon for its Control Center) to access Networking configuration and left menu showing the utilities for configuration is blank. The menu at the top is present for choosing icons, shortcuts, etc., but not the panel menu on the left. I could not access anything to go in and make the changes previous solutions provided such as selecting "File associations" etc.

It would be handy to know what command lines I type in to remedy this. I am not too familiar with standard descriptions of how to enter them and would appreciate something simple.

The GUI menu reads, "Control Center Mime." Its message reads, "application/octect-stream no mime types installed."

The original summary for this bug was longer than 255 characters, and so it was truncated when Bugzilla was upgraded. The original summary was:

Menu in KDE Control Center is blank with message: application/octet-stream no mime types installed. Cannot access list items (hidden?) to make changes to stream. Has happened before then it went away after closing and reopening. Presently downloading applications from repository for kde in Synaptic. Need terminal command data to remedy.
