The terminal inside kate has its own profiles -- why not share them with konsole?
This way, if I create a profile I like to use inside konsole, I can use it inside kate too.

This menu is now present on all apps using the konsole kpart now, so I think this should be reassigned to konsole / konsole kpart instead of just kate.

Sounds reasonable, I'll re-assign.

Note also that there does not seem to be a way for the user to change the default profile in an embedded konsolepart (or at least I could not find one).

Fixed in the final KDE 4.0 release.
