(Couldn't find an appropriate app in the lists)
When I hit my usb mass-storage device from the menu ( "Removable Storage" from "My Computer"), nothing happens.
Select a device from "Storage" works as expected.

Removable Storage now works, but now Storage has disappeared

it all works now with the places model.
