Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. Set menu->settings->xinesettings->media->advancedoptions->capture.save_dir field to the dir you want to save to. Yes, this works, but a reasonable setting should be enabled by default. And if it crashes, could you provide a backtrace please? Please read http://techbase.kde.org/index.php?title=Contribute/Bugsquad/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports I also get this bug using Kaffeine 0.8.6, KDE 3.5.8 and Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy. The error detail is " input_rip: error opening file ??3??e/wyatt/Ron Paul: No such file or directory" The fix in comment #2 works for me, but it still ought to be fixed properly. To be clear, this is not simply a default directory problem because even if you have not set a default directory, the "Record Stream" option asks you to specify what folder to save it in. The fact that this is completely disregarded proves that this is more than just a default setting issue. Could you please follow the link in comment #4 and provide an useful backtrace for this crash ? Thank you. Hi, I did the following steps: - click on a stream and Kaffeine appears - click on "Save stream" (in german "Datenstrom speichern") - change the directory from "/home/gerold/Desktop" to "/home/gerold/" and click ok - a box appears (xine-error) with (http://www.toulibre.org/pub/2008-01-26-journee-kde/video/aurelien-gateau-les-feuilles-de-style-de-qt.ogg#save:/home/gerold/aurelien-gateau-les-feuilles-de-style-de-qt.ogg) with the backtrace (at the end of the email) - the field described in Comment #2 (-> capture.save_dir) changed from "/home/gerold/Desktop" to "Æe/gerold" (the signs are always different when I repeat the procedure) It always happens when I change the directory. If I don't change the directory the recording works. System: KDE 3.5.9 Kubuntu 8.04 If you need some more information just tell me. Greetings, Gerold The Backtrace: 19:03:18: input_rip: error opening file Hi, I can confirm this bug for Kaffeine 0.8.7 in KDE 3.5.9 (Debian Sid (Sidux 2008-03)). To me it seems that the problem is the garbage produced at the beginning of the path, where the first three characters are not correct (see descriptions above). Probably important note: This bug does NOT appear in the Kaffeine version that is shipped with the Build Service build of KDE 3.5.10 for openSUSE 11.0. (Unfortunately I cannot give any details on the builds and versions as I had to delete my openSUSE 11.0 installation due to hardware problems.) Greetings Sven Hi again, As for the versions for openSUSE 11.0, it was Kaffeine 0.8.7 built by PackMan and KDE 3.5.10 being the version that preceded the currently available 3.5.10-23.1. Greetings Sven Hi, ---- QUOTE by Sven Zallmann ---- Probably important note: This bug does NOT appear in the Kaffeine version that is shipped with the Build Service build of KDE 3.5.10 for openSUSE 11.0. ---- END QUOTE ----------------- I need to correct myself after having reinstalled openSUSE 11.0. This error does indeed also appear here (KDE 3.5.10 "release 27.1"; Kaffeine 0.8.7 (RPM version 0.8.7-0.pm.1)). Sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping to find the answer with these versions. :( Greetings Sven This is still going on in Kaffeine 0.8.7 under Kubuntu 8.10. Kaffeine has some strange characters as the default stream save directory. doesn't apply to kaffeine 1.* anymore |
