Description Oscar 2007-11-07 11:18:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

When I fetch mails via IMAP the inbox "flickers" a lot and mails are removed (or made invisible) during the operation. When the operation completes the mails are back but it does look bad when you see all your mails (or the latest ones) disappear one by one just as if they were being deleted.
The first time I saw it I got so scared that I killed Kontact so that it wouldn't delete my whole inbox.

I can confirm this on 1.9.10. Selecting any imap folder first clears all message list then shows screen stating "Retrieving folder contents" and then shows updated message list. It should show previously downloaded mails(headers) and then add newly downloaded mails on top. If user is on slow connection, it may give the feeling of deleted mails as reporter had.

I can confirm this on 1.11.2.

I think this has been fixed in KDE 4.2.3 (what should be 1.11.3). Can you confirm this?

Ubuntu 10.4, I am having this behaviour since a few weeks. Latest update to kmail 1.13.2 did not resolve it.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
