(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konqueror
Version: 1.9.8 (KDE 2.0)
Severity: wishlist
Compiler: gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)
OS: Linux 2.3.21 i686 (compiled sources)

If you use "Select.." to select a file/files the window should scroll such that at least one
of the selected files is viewable. It is often hard to find a file in a large directory otherwise.

Possibly even consider allowing an option where only selected files are shown.

I don't know which Select.. you're talking about. Maybe it went away. PLease clarify

It's now under 'Edit->Selection->Select...' (konq 3.3.2). It would be a usability improvement for at least one of the selected files to be visible so you can drag+drop the set or whatever. In all cases I can think of where it would be used, it's going to need to be scrolled such that one of the files is visible, anyway. Removing that as a required but manual step (so having Konq ensure the property of 'at least one file of the set is on screen') is what this wishlist item was about.

The "Select..." feature has been dropped on KDE4. There are newer methods for filtering/selecting files.

Do you still need this to be implemented on KDE3?

No, it's likely no longer relevant.
