Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

Reason: flat view is much faster to read (because there is less to read).

MC == Midnight Commander? You mean that it should be a column view instead of a tree view?

I would also like column view in the folder pane of gwenview

original reporter has not replied but i also want this feature so its more like geeqie for file browsing

I'm still not sure what's actually being asked for here. I don't know what Geeqie's file navigation or file browsing workflow is like. Can someone please describe in detail what the request is? Pictures would help too.

Thanks, that helps!

We should port the folder pane to use KDirOperator, which would gain us this feature automatically, while also allowing the current tree view for people who prefer it. KDirOperator is basically made for this. Other KDE apps like Kate already use it like this.
