Description Sankarshan Mukhopadhyay 2007-10-05 12:06:54 UTC
Version: 6:3.5.7-3.fc7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

This feature request is to put in a wizard based functionality to backup and restore accounts configured in KMail across desktops. A typical UseCase would be that I setup and configure an account on Desktop A (for a specific OS, say Fedora 7). Then, through a wizard, I backup all data ie account metadata, account configuration data and mailboxes associated with an account to a package payload - perhaps an archive. On Desktop B, for any OS where KMail is available, I use an wizard to import the package payload from Desktop A and thus end up with the exact same mail account along with the account metadata, account configuration data and mailboxes.

Note, this is not "importing" mailboxes of a different MUA on the same machine which is an UseCase for MUA migration from something_else to KMail. This is a backup/restore across desktops.

The backup feature of ALL the kde pim apps should be implemented. I mark this bug as duplicate of the bug 76690. Are you ok?

As long as it gets implemented :) thank you.
