Description Francois Marier 2007-09-16 12:17:57 UTC
Version: 1.0.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Aefron <ludov_dupont@yahoo.fr> reported a problem with verification on the Debian tracker (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=438865). What kind of information would you like to get from him?

Here is his original message:

On my Debian testing, I hadn't this problem with previous 1.0.2-1 (I 've
used k3b since late august)... a few days ago, it got updated to
1.0.3-2, and I now have this very annoying problem, with k3b failing to
verify, by ejecting the CD and issuing "No track to verify found"
(though it seems to burn ok, as I always include a MD5SUM file on my
discs and it tells everything is correct... well, much more annoying for
ISOs).

I experience the same bug with k3b 1.0.3 on fedora core 6. DVD burner is lg h55l.

I am experiencing this same bug with both kubuntu feisty and gutsy with k3b 1.0.3 using kde 3.5.7. Previously, i recollect a popup asking me to manually reinsert the disc for verification.

I have the same Problem, with K3B 1.0.3, installed through synaptic on ubuntu 7.04. Maybe it has something to do that i am using a laptop burner, which cannot close itself (i'm assuming that the tray should open and then close again by itself, maybe to clean the cache or whatever)?

Can also confirm this, have an IBM Thinkpad Z60m with DVD burner (that requires you to push the tray back in). Getting same error - no dialog to manually reinsert disc.

I can confirm this bug too.

I have a Toshiba laptop with a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2512 (CD burning and rewriting, read DVDs, no ability to burn DVD). On my laptop, with Debian Etch lenny/sid (KDE 3.5.8, K3B 1.0.4, installed from Debian package), here is what happens when I burn and try to verify a CD:
1. Burn goes through and completes fine, K3B reports that it is burning track 1.
2. CD ejects, K3B displays message waiting for me to close the drive (my hardware has only Solenoid Open, no solenoid close).
3. I push in the drive. K3B's waiting message disappears and K3B displays a message saying that it is verifying track 0.
4. There is no drive activity beyond a few clicks as HAL (I think) recognizes the CD and puts an icon on my desktop.
5. K3B just hangs there, verifying but never starts reading from the drive.
It seems to me that K3B (for some reason) is trying to verify a different (non-existent) track than what it burned?
