backgrounds are drawn via plugins, so this is fully possible pending someone writing the plugin to do so ;) *** Bug 149948 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Bug 149948 isn't a duplicate of this bug. He says moving applets should trigger an animation. I say the background/wallpaper should be animated. Has anyone seen the background wave of the XMB menu on the PS3? That's what I mean. "a wishlist for an animated background that looketh like a pond." seriously, close enough. mac os x also has a similar effect when adding new applets, when the applet is dropped on to the screen, waves spread and the applet bounces as if it was a buoyant object on water. *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** *** Bug 63197 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** So, what is this wishlist about? plasma can have animated wallpapers and there are a few. perhaps not the exact one you want, but yeah.. so i close this one, if you want a specific animated wallpaper you can create a mockup and a detailed description and open a new wishlist. Sorry about the confusion. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149948 was about an interactive background, not an animated background (which is easy to do). Imagine a Plasma widget on the desktop. Now imagine that there are waves spreading out from the widget, like a small island or large rock in a pond. Move the widget, and it produces a wake like a boat going through the water. Drop the widget on a different location on the background, and the wave will move with it. An other idea would be to left-click on the desktop, and ye can create waves on the background just by moving a mouse. In other words, this is not a simple animated background, but an interactive one. |
