It's the default file type for Audacity (the audio editor)
Therefore I think it should be placed in category "audio"

Mimetypes should be submitted to the freedesktop shared-mime standard, see

I did a post there, 
but I didn't understand the ".xml" stuff they where describing.
Will see how they will treat the bug...

Providing new MIME types is no more a KDE issue (unless they really are KDE-specific).
Since the Audacity one isn't, closing.
