Description Dotan Cohen 2007-09-12 00:50:17 UTC
Version: 1.2.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

KDE is severely missing a hierarchical list manager, similar to ListPro (http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/lp/listpro.htm). On KDE-Apps there is a Zaurus utility (IQNotes: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/IQNotes?content=29544) that seems perfect, however does not compile in KDE for the desktop, and in any case seems to be abandonware.

The critical, base features that I would suggest would be multiple lists, expandable hierarchy, checkboxes with reset (all checkboxes cleared) feature, and a notes field. Other fields such as a configurable dropdown box, priority settings, and date, would be great.

The only alternatives one has today are OOo Writer's outlining, which is impractical and not well developed, and misuse of Kontact's ToDo lists (which are similar to what I'm requesting). I use KnowIt for other purposes, but I find that it
makes a poor hierarchical list manager and does not support checkmarks. Although Basket has a checkmark feature, lists cannot be made hierarchical. Additionally, Basket places an emphasis on data presentation over data structure, making it cumbersome for heavy use.
