Sentry Crash Report:

Description Elmar Stellnberger (AT/K) 2007-09-02 13:28:35 UTC
Version: 2.0 (using KDE 3.5.7 "release 74.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18.2-34-default

Most shell scripts are made to be invoked from a shell with certain parameters. Invoking them directly from a graphical application like Konqueror makes no sense or can even be harmful:
no output is displayed and no parameters can be specified. Instead of this they should be opened with an editor or viewed embeddedly.
A 'run executables directly' switch could be disabled to edit shell scripts by default or to modify the startup modality of certain file types (e.g. start with parameters, as a terminal, without startup notification, etc.).
Alternatively an 'apply to executables only' switch for each application program to open files of the given type could provide a richer set of functionality. If this switch is enabled for any of the listed application programs then executables are not started directly by default but with the given application entry.

There was a kde-core-devel discussion about that in 2007 too.

This one http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=120414345730716&w=2?

KDE 3 is no longer maintained, but this request is still valid for KDE 4. However, konqueror now uses a Dolphin kpart for filemanagement so this wishlist belongs in Dolphin's queue.
