Preview of the same image in showFoto 0.6.0

Description Narendra Kadoo 2007-08-16 16:52:02 UTC
Version: 0.6.0 (using KDE 3.5.6, compiled sources)
Compiler:          Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-14mdvlegacy

Hello,

Whenever I open ANY image (jpg, tiff, gif, maybe others) in ShowFoto, it scales down the resolution by a GREAT extent and the displayed image quality is VERY POOR. However, printout of the image (command given from within ShowFoto) is normal. For example, if I open an image of 1024 x 768 resolution in ShowFoto, it looks like an image of about 100 x 76 or even less. The Image properties, Type, Dimention, Bit Depth and Color Mode are shown Unknown/Unavailable.

In Konqueror, the embeded preview is normal.

[This may be another bug] In ShowFoto Settings, the Color Management checkbox and the OK button are mutually exclusive. The OK button is Enabled only when the Color Management checkbox is Disabled. Clicking the checkbox to enable/disable it repeatedly disables/enables the OK button.

Any image of 1024 x 768 resolution in ShowFoto, it looks like an image of about 100 x 76 or even less, and Color Management checkbox is Disabled. Clicking the checkbox to enable/disable it repeatedly disables/enables the OK button. I ran latest updates on my PCLinuxOS 2007 but none of this has been resolved yet. As the matter of fact showfoto was displaying a crisp quality images before the last two updates.

Which version of showfoto is this?
Does anyone else run PCLinuxOS 2007 and has (or has not) this problem?
(I am asking because I have never heard about such a behaviour,
so there might be something screwed with the system ...)
Are there any error messages in the konsole?

Hello,

showfoto version: 0.6.0 on Mandriva 2007.1.

I update my system daily with the latest stable updates.

When I run showfoto from console, I get the following messages:

Found dcraw version: 8.60
QFile::open: No file name specified
QFile::open: No file name specified

The message: Exif orientation=1 was shown when I open a tif image. However, for gif and bmp files, I got the message:

Cannot load metadata using Exiv2 (/home/<user>/Pictures/glowing02b.gif: The file contains data of an unknown image type)

However, please note that the problem (scale down of resolution) occurs with ALL FILE TYPES irrespective of size and color/monochrome images.

Best regards,
Narendra

The problem remains. Please check the two attached snapshots.

This time I found another bug! The file name area of the status bar in showFoto 0.6.0 is jumbled and cant be read properly. This is clear in the attched showFoto snapshot as well.

Isn't this the same as http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148649 ?

Narendra, showfoto 0.6.0 is pretty old by now. Could you try
at least 0.7.0, or even better the upcoming 0.8.0 (which comes with digikam 0.9.4-beta1).

Many thanks in advance, Arnd

Hi,

I am now using Kuickshow instead of showFoto and hence cant confirm the issue with the latest version of showFoto. However, I believe that the latest version would work fine.

Best wishes,
Narendra Kadoo

I close this  file now.
