a plugin to load auto-align a series of photos into one single image would be great. features could include

* adjustable spaces between images
* spaces between all the same / growing / shrinking
* auto-scale images ala 1st pic 100%, 2nd picture fx 70 %, 3rd 40 %
* add border / frame
..

thank you for the _fantastic_ work you have done so far with digikam, really appreciated!

To me this seems to be the same as (or a subset of) 
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149936

I would suggest to mark this bug here as duplicate,
because the other one already contains more discussion - any objections?
