i saw this request before, but i'm not sure where. maybe i reassigned it to kdesktop or it was a private one. anyway, i'm not sure what exactly the problem is when both backgrounds are the same? i mean, there is a very short moment without anything but the background, but what's the problem with this? In my opinion this report can be closed. KDE 4.1 is going to include a fullscreen splash which, in combination with desktop effects provides a very smooth transition to the desktop. login -> splash shows up with black "background" -> splash finished -> splash fades out -> desktop is unveiled Of course there is still a gap between login and the appearance of the splash, but, I for one, can't think of a way to improve this since KDM doesn't have access to nice 3D fading ;-) hmm, yeah. well, kdm leaves the desktop with whatever background it used itself. so ksplash can just make a screenshot of the root window and fade it into whatever it wants. *** Bug 172857 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** The transition would probably look much smoother if ksplash would not set it's own background-image, but just draw the progress-icons and leave the image which kdm set. Then ksplash would not even need to take a screenshot as suggested in #3 Closing as per comment #2. If KDM, KsplashX and desktop wallpapers are all the same, the transition between them is seamless. If not, a bugreport for the artwork should be created. |
