Description S. Umar 2007-07-21 20:08:45 UTC
Version:            (using KDE Devel)
Installed from:    Compiled sources
Compiler:          gcc-4.1.2
OS:                Linux

I cannot see the flash test page:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Using 9.0.r48 and kde-3.5.7 updated from SVN. On the konsole
I am getting the following errors:

======================================================================
DCOP: 'anonymous-22219' now known as 'nspluginviewer-22092'

(process:22219): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:22219): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_clipboard_get_for_display: assertion `GDK_IS_DISPLAY (display)' failed
Adobe FlashPlayer: gtk_clipboard_get(GDK_SELECTION_PRIMARY); failed. Trying to call gtk_init(0,0);

By the way, same flash plugin works just fine with firefox-1.5.0.12,
so it cannot the a flash player bug!
Comment 2 S. Umar 2007-07-21 20:23:07 UTC
Those errors go away if I downgrade to gtk-2.10.13 from 2.10.14. But the
flash player still does not work.
Comment 3 S. Umar 2007-10-13 15:53:13 UTC
This is still a problem with the latest flash players. I guess it would not
be *prudent* for a kde application like konqueror to call gtk_init before
loading the flash player! But an unofficial patch would be appreciated since
I like using konqueror.

This is a problem for Flash plugin >9.0 r60, which uses GTK for user interface.
Comment 5 Shinjo Park 2007-12-05 15:03:28 UTC
Also this problem is exist in recent KDE 4 snapshots, too.

I noticed the same things both in konquerror 3.5.8 and 4.0.0

flash 9.0.115 & 3.5.9 & 4.00.82 (ie 4.1beta) ---> this works fine
