Sentry Crash Report:

Description Richard Hartmann 2007-07-11 21:08:18 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)

When your KDE session closes before it is fully loaded, you lose state, for example the saved Konqueror windows. This means that when you start your laptop and have almost no battery left, KDE will shut down your computer and next time you log in, your windows are gone.

Reproduce:
1) Open a few Konqueror windows
2) Set critical battery threshold to 70% (or something else that is not too low) and choose shutdown as action.
3) Log out of KDE
4) Disconnect power cable and use up some battery time
5) Log in to KDE
6) KDE will load some applications, realize the battery is low, shut down your computer
7) Reload battery and boot
8) Log in to KDE
9) Your saved windows are gone

Proposed resolutions:
1) Make KDE aware of the state it is in when shutting down/logging out and only save the session information if the previous session was loaded successfully
2) Offer a session backtrace that let's you choose from the last X sessions which windows you want to open (possible with some merge ability)

In light of the impeding KDE4 release, I am going through all bug reports I am involved in. To the best of my knowledge, this issue is still open.

No response; assuming it was fixed since then.
