Created attachment 20767 [details] The Printer Properties dialog.. As you can see in the attached snapshot of the printer properties dialog, A3 is missing. I'm using HPLIP drivers. which supports the A3 size. here's the link showing supported page sizes for hplip. http://hplip.sourceforge.net/tech_docs/page_sizes.html thanks. It would be nice (and in your own interest) if you told which *exact* printer *model* you are trying to make work. (Because then I could recommend a driver to you). This very likely is not a KDEPrint bug. There are two possible explanations: * driver PPD, or the version which you have installed, uses an incomplete set of page size formats. * you printer model does not support A3 media, and hence it is missing from the list contained in the PPD. Please visit http://openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi to find the latest and recommended driver. Test the presence of an A3 media size in your driver's PPD by opening http://localhost:631/printers/ and clicking on the "Set Printer Options" button (which is called similar in CUPS 1.1.x). If the A3 is missing there too, the problem for sure is not in KDEPrint. Since you are already aware of the driver's home page, you should do two things: (1) make sure you have installed the latest version, with a PPD for exactly the printer model you own (2) file a bug report with the HPLIP developers if you are sure your model supports A3 and it is still missing in the PPD Cheers. The Printer is "HP PSC 1410 ALL-IN-ONE" http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1410_All-in-One I have installed "hplip 1.7.4-2" frugalware distro package. Though It has "HP PSC 1400 series" drivers, still it won't show A3 size. Selecting Other printer drivers like 1300 series or 1500 series will also not show "A3" Page size in the settings. I suspect that the problem can be with "HPLIP" drivers. Are you able to see "A3" size with a "HP psc 1400 series" drivers? If you just pretend to install HP psc 1400 printer.. will it show A3 size in the "settings"? I will check with other distros like Kubuntu to confirm whether A3 is missing due to HPLip or Cups or KDEPrint. And, I will confirm about my finding with my next comments. Please let the bug report open. Thanks for your wonderful instructions :) Created attachment 20797 [details]
Drivers selection dialog for My printer
well, I have just tested "HP PSC 1400" with Kubuntu Edgy 6.10 and found the
same issue of "missing A3" page size.
I have even installed "hpijs-ppds" package and installed the printer drivers
(as u can see in the screenshot) with the same problem, All other page sizes
are available but not A3 :(
Please advise me, where should i report the bug of missing A3 page, at HPLIP or
at CUPS? Thanks..
And by the way, the "page sizes" are not sorted.. causing inconvenience to find
page sizes in alphabetically.
oops, my printer does not support A3 size, it's double the A4 size ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size about hp 1410 (reference): https://www.sirindia.com/details.asp?ProductID=10127350 Media size Paper: A4, A5, Letter, Legal, Executive, B5-JIS, Cards; Envelopes: DL, C6, A2. which makes my bug report invalid.. thanks.. Closing old Resolved status bug. |
